Ryleigh Batts

Miss Ryleigh Batts was born on January 5, 2021 eventually becoming the sweetest middle child for her mom Briauna.  Living in the Detroit area, life is always busy for Ryleigh and her family and she loves being a little sister to De'ior and a big sister to Romero. According to her mom, what makes Ryleigh so unique is that she is very outspoken and she just loves being herself.   Some of her favorite activities are  gymnastics, going shopping , playing with make up and also playing with her siblings.

Ryleigh is always on the go and enjoys being outside, playing at the park, visiting Target  and Walmart and having movies nights with her family at home.

Ryleigh is blessed to be around, not just her immediate family but also a larger support system of aunts, uncles and her grandmother.

Diagnosis

In June of 2025, Ryleigh's mom began to notice some concerning symptoms.  Ryleigh seemed a little unsteady on her feet and was beginning to drool. The most concerning symptom to her mom was that her little girl just really wasn't acting like the Ryleigh that she knew.  On June 30th, she took her to the University of Michigan's C.S. Mott Children's hospital for evaluation and it was there that Ryleigh was diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, or DIPG.  Briauna struggled with the news and understanding the diagnosis when she had never heard of DIPG before and could not imagine her own child having to struggle with it. Ryleigh bravely began radiation therapy at C.S. Mott and is working hard to get her strength back.

Briauna has chosen to share Ryleigh's story now because although DIPG is considered rare, she feels that it needs to become more well known and that no child and their family should ever feel overlooked or like they are battling this disease alone.

Ryleigh is a fighter with a big personality and the Archer Foundation is proud to join her family as they spread awareness for DIPG and help shine a light in the darkness of this diagnosis for others.
