Reese Wireman

Reese was born on May 2 to mom Nichole and dad Russ, joining his big brother Cage to complete their family.  Although their two boys keep mom and dad busy, Reese and Cage also enjoys spending time with their dad's really large extended family and have a huge network of fifteen cousins all under the age of ten which means Wireman family vacations are always the place to be!

Reese is most often described as very caring and often thinks of how he can give to others. When you first meet him he can be quiet, especially around new people but really starts to open up when you get to know him.
Reese loves spending time playing with his big brother- whether it's playing football, Roblox or just goofing off.  He loves snuggles with is mom and is always asking for her to put his arm around him.  â€‹Reese is quite the outdoorsman and a proud fisherman. At six years old, he can do it all by himself. He puts the worm on, takes the fish off, casts and uses an adult pole! Reese is always up for an adventure!

Diagnosis

Reese's diagnosis took his family completely by surprise and they felt like it al all happened out of nowhere! On November 29, 2025, Russ was home with the boys and had a friend over with his five year old. Russ noticed that  Reese wasn’t feeling all that well but was still running around and playing. He would eat but throw up after. By that evening Reese was feeling pretty bad. Russ thought maybe he had a cold. Nichole picked up some popsicles, chicken broth and some chicken noodle soup before coming home. Reese was laying on the couch and said, "Momma, I don’t feel good." His mom gave him a popsicle, he ate it and then thew it up shortly after. Nichole carried him upstairs and tried to go to bed, but it was a bad night!  That night consisted of very little sleep with Reese vomiting and taking Tylenol for a headache and very lethargic. By 6am Nichole  decided that this flu was too much and they decided to take him to the ED. While in the ED the Doctor noticed that Reese had left sided weakness, which she had not noticed yet because she was carrying him. The doctor ordered an immediate head CT.   The ED nurse came to get Nichole so they could talk in another room away from Reese and that is when they told her he had a tumor in his brainstem! They were devastated! Reese was rushed to a larger hospital in Morgantown. He was started on high dose steroids, scheduled for a MRI in the morning followed by brain surgery to get a biopsy on December 1st.  He was then started on emergent radiation that started on December 3rd.   His parents worried that Reese might not make it out of the hospital but they were so happy to have help giving Reese an early Christmas.

Since diagnosis, Reese and his family have been traveling to another state for a clinical trial and constantly pushing forward to find the best treatment options for their little boy.  The Archer Foundation is proud to join the Wireman family in the belief that there are more good days ahead for Reese.
