Jawan Myers
Jawan was born on August 6th to his mom Naomi, instantly becoming the center of her whole world. Jawan is a little man who is bursting with creativity and has the heart of an artist. He absolutely loves to draw and Naomi says that if he could draw all day he would. He is also intensely curious and loves to learn about nature, especially sea animals. His favorite sea animals are Orca whales. Much like the whales he loves, Jawan is happiest in the water, he loves swimming and visiting water parks. Even with his diagnosis it has not slowed him down at all
Blessed with a great sense of humor, Jawan is known as the funny kid and he will brighten your day up in an instant. Every room he walks into lights up with his spirit, his hundred watt smile and his infectious laugh.
Diagnosis
Naomi first noticed some strange symptoms that had her mama heart shouting that something wasn't quite right. Jawan began having headaches that caused extreme pain and vomiting. She took Jawan in to the hospital and just about a month before his fifth birthday, she received the news no parent could ever imagine. Jawan had DIPG and everything in their lives changed in that instant. Jawan began an initial round of radiation treatment to try and slow the tumor growth and approached each day with his signature smile on his face. He has faced uncertainty and hard days with his sense of humor intact and a heart for others, including his sweet mama. Naomi is choosing to share their journey and says, "I’m sharing my story because this is a very lonely road, and I don’t want any other mother to feel how I’ve been feeling. It’s very scary, you have no control on the outcome or what comes next."
