Diagnosis
In July of 2023, Hazel's mom and dad began to notice some differences in their usually bubbly little girl. One side of her face had limited movement and they noticed that she was beginning to have unsteadiness when she walked.

They took her to the hospital where they were told the unimaginable... Hazel had Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma, or DIPG. They felt completely shocked and horrified by the prognosis that was shared by her doctors but relied on their deep faith in God to carry them through the diagnosis and treatment journey for their sweet little girl.Hazel began radiation treatment, driving hours each day from Ohio into Michigan so that Hazel could receive the best care possible. They have faced innumerable ups and downs and the financial burden of her diagnosis has been heavy, but the Brown's are determined that nothing will stop them from saving their daughter.
Now, an odds-defying, almost two years into Hazel's DIPG journey, her family realizes that she is a living testament to Hazel's incredible strength and her family's incredible faith in God and belief that their little girl is more than a statistic on a piece of paper.

Hazel is a ray of sunshine and the Archer Foundation is proud to join her family in the belief that God is mightier than DIPG and her story still has so much more joy to tell.
